Overdose Deaths Remembered at Trinity Cathedral Service

Prayer Service – International Overdose Awareness Day

Please join us for a Prayer Service as we pray for those who have died from overdoses and for those who still suffer from addiction disease.

11 a.m.         Pittsburgh Will Not Forget You Families – A group of parents who lost children will display pictures of their lost loved ones on the cathedral grounds.

                      Ringing of the Bells – Memory of Overdose Deaths 2017.  A bell will ring once for everyone who died from an overdose in Allegheny County last year.

11:30 a.m.    Honoring the City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for their service in reviving overdoses and saving lives. Box lunches will be distributed to all city EMS stations prior to the service.

12 Noon        Interfaith Prayer Service at Trinity Cathedral

In addition, the Coalition for Leadership, Education and Advocacy for Recovery (CLEAR) has added two free educational sessions for the community and professionals before and after the prayer service at First Presbyterian Church, 320 Sixth Avenue.

9-11 a.m.                  Treating Opiate Use Disorder

Presenter:  Jennifer A. Archut, MA, CADC, CMAT, CSAT, Clinical Supervisor for the Opioid Treatment Program at Caron Treatment Center in Wernersville, PA

Participants will gain a better understanding of how Medicated Assisted Treatment can be used in conjunction with specialized treatment and therapy and how to understand and manage cravings and relapses.

1 p.m.                  NARCAN Training*

Presenter:  Robert Elser, Overdose Prevention Administer, Allegheny County Health Department

Participants will learn how to administer NARCAN (Naloxone HCI), how and when to use it, and how to purchase it.
