Marilyn A. Dilg, Rest In Peace

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you that Marilyn A. Dilg, wife of the Rev. Arthur Dilg, died Wednesday, October 31, 2018.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 12 noon to 2 p.m. and from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, 500 Ben Franklin Road South
Indiana, PA 15701.

A service celebrating Marilyn’s life will be held Monday at 10 A.M. at Christ Episcopal Church, 902 Philadelphia Street, Indiana, PA 15701, with the Rt. Rev. Dorsey McConnell, presiding. The Rev. William Geiger and the Rev. Joseph Baird will be assisting.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice, 850 Hospital Rd., Suite 3000, Indiana, PA 15701; or The CARE Center of Indiana County, 125 N. 5th St., Indiana, PA 15701.


Marilyn was born in 1937 in Pittsburgh to Thomas and Anna Steiger Meyers. She was raised in Squirrel Hill and graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School. She enrolled in the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing and graduated as a Registered Nurse.

Marilyn met her future husband Arthur Dilg whom she married in 1961 and was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church when her husband was the Rector. She was also active in six additional churches over Arthur’s career.

Marilyn worked for the Visiting Nurse Association prior to beginning her career at Indiana Hospital where she developed and grew the Social Services and Discharge Planning Department while serving as Director for over 21 years until her retirement. She then focused her attention as Director of Indiana County CareNet for several years until her second retirement.

Her many community activities included serving on the boards of the Alice Paul House, the Open Door, Family Planning Services, VNA Hospice, The CARE Center, Indiana County Area Agency of Aging, and the United Way. Additionally, her volunteer activities included: Circles Initiative of Indiana Co., After School Study Center, Foster Care Parenting Program, and the Back to School Bash.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 57 years, Indiana; two daughters and one son, Sandi Fairman and husband David, Indiana; Bruce Dilg and wife Barbara, Columbus, OH; Deborah Thompson and husband Bill, Pittsburgh; nine grandchildren, Sabrina Condino (Jason), Staci Smith (Michael), Shawn Julock (Lauren), Benjamin Dilg, Brendan Dilg, Brock Dilg, Emmary Farrell (Will), Michael Kelly and Masanne Kelly; seven great grandchildren, Blake, Carter, Sienna, Braden, Dylan, Maxwell and Jake.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws Arthur and Emma Dilg and her brother-in-law Bruce Dilg.

Rest eternal grant her, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon Marilyn. May her soul, and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
