The Delaware State University Choir, one of the outstanding choral groups in the country, has toured extensively and has highly praised for its performances of the choral works of Thomas Tallis, Joseph Haydn, Ernst Toch, and Moses Hogan. The Choir has become recognized for its interpretations of Negro Spirituals, as well as of choral works by composers of African descent.
The unique aspect of the Delaware State University Choral Program is the intertwining of many musical styles, presenting them with great distinction, precision and heart. They meld together classical, gospel, sacred and secular classics, spirituals, and vocal jazz styles into a unique musical tapestry.
The Choir, directed by Dr. Curtis Everett Powell, will perform at The Church of the Holy Cross, 7507 Kelly Street in Homewood on Wednesday, May 18, at 7:00 p.m. The performance is free and open to the public.
