God of hope, we come to you in shock and grief and confusion of heart.
Help us to find peace in the knowledge of your loving mercy and give us light to guide us out of darkness into the assurance of your love.
Surround us and all who mourn this night with your continuing compassion. Do not let grief be unending.
Into God’s loving care, into the arms of that infinite mercy, we commend those who died so needlessly and tragically in the assurance that they will share in the risen life of Jesus Christ, our Savior.
