I know it's a blessed and busy time of year, but I wanted to share exciting plans with you for Presiding Bishop Michael Curry's visit to Pittsburgh, from February 3-5, 2017. There are a number of gatherings planned as the Diocese of Pittsburgh hosts this Pilgrimage for Reconciliation, Healing and Evangelism.
Although everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend ANY of the events, the Celebration Eucharist honoring Absalom Jones on Saturday, February 4 at Holy Cross, Homewood is most appropriate for the young people of our diocese.
- All children are invited to take part in the creation of a gift for the Presiding Bishop;
- There will be a children/youth breakfast with the Presiding Bishop the morning of the Absalom Jones service;
- All acolytes are invited to take part in the service;
- Young singers (regardless of whether or not they are in a church choir) are invited to take part.
Please make sure your acolyte coordinators get this information. Please think about who likes to sing and invite them personally. Please, oh please, encourage your young people to attend – as a group or with their families. They will be inspired by the Presiding Bishop, I promise! This is a NOT TO BE MISSED event!
Please read the details regarding the gift, registration, and acolyte and musical rehearsals in the special issue of Feed My Sheep. Any questions about youth participation the Absalom Jones events should be directed to Deacon Linda Wilson (deaconlindawilson@gmail.com). Questions regarding the creation of the gift should be directed to me, Lisa Brown (lcbrown@stpaulspgh.org or call 412-759-8315).
Have a Merry and Blessed Christmas! More details to follow in the new year!
