The ordination to the priesthood of the Rev. Lenny Anderson, at St. Francis-in-the-Fields in Somerset on September 25th, reflected a tapestry of Lenny's life: the presence of two Episcopal dioceses, the local ecumenical community, and a musically gifted family.
(L to R) The Rt. Rev. Kenneth L Price, Jr., the Rev. Lenny Anderson, the Rt. Rev. James "Bud" Shand, the Very Rev. Charles Osberger. |
The Bishop of Easton, James "Bud" Shand, ordained him; Pittsburgh Bishop Ken Price celebrated the Eucharist; former Pittsburgh priest and current rector of Easton's Wye Parish, the Very Rev. Charles Osberger, preached. Nine other Pittsburgh clergy took part.
Scripture lessons were read by a Methodist chaplain and a United Church of Christ minister. An ordained Lutheran was cantor.
The music – 16 pieces in all – featured Lenny's mother, a pianist, and his grandfather, who played the English horn.
This week Lenny+ transfers his canonical residency to the Pittsburgh diocese.
