Johnstown was not the only river town hit hard by the St. Patrick’s Day flood of 1936. Floodwater rose to the eaves of many buildings in the lower part of Tarentum.  The St. Barnabas parish hall/Sunday school building was a total loss; the church was badly damaged and its organ a total loss.
