In 1872, the parish consecrated their third building. At the time, its steeple was the tallest building in downtown. By 1906 when Trinity dedicated its new parish hall, surrounding tall office buildings dwarfed the church. In 1928 Trinity Church became the diocesan cathedral.  It already housed the diocesan offices.
