Trinity Church formally incorporates, and builds its first building in Pittsburgh, an octagonally-shaped building known locally as the "Round Church." It quickly becomes a Pittsburgh landmark. For whatever reason, the church is not located on the plot of land given by the Penn family for an Episcopal Church, and which already had a cemetery on part of the property, but rather across the road and about one block away.
