St. Andrews marks Lincoln's death
Victory in Sight
Both the bloody Civil War and the long struggle for a diocese came to their conclusions in spring 1865, with the Pennsylvania diocese granting approval for the division only weeks after Lee surrendered and President Lincoln's assassination. Supporters keep their eyes on the prize, raising necessary endowment and gaining approval of General Convention so they can organize the new diocese before the end of the year.
