Assistant Bishop Onderdonk ordains Samuel West Seldon as a deacon in a service held at Trinity Church, Pittsburgh. Seldon took up duties as missionary in Beaver County.
After Henry Onderdonk became assistant bishop, Bishop White turned over visitations to the more distant parishes to his energetic, younger assistant. Onderdonk made frequent trips west oftern twice a year, consecrating churches, confirming members, and preaching. He consecrated the new church building in Blairsville in 1831. It was then the only Episcopal Church in Indiana County.
