The second General Convention convenes at Christ Church in Philadelphia
William White is elected Bishop of Pennsylvania.
21 September 1786
The New York Episcopal convention meets to sign a testimonial supporting Samuel Provoost's selection as bishop.
General Convention reconvenes in Wilmington, Delaware, and makes alterations in the Book of Common Prayer and canons to address concerns of the Archibshiop of Canterbury. The convention then certifies the elections of White, Provoost, and of David Griffith of Virginia as bishops. White and Provoost soon leave for England.
