26 November 1758
After regaining control of the fort at the point where the Allegheny and Monongahela come together, the British troops held a service of thanksgiving. Presbyterian chaplain, Charles Beatty read a service from the Book of Common Prayer and then preached a sermon. That day the fort was renamed "Fort Pitt."
