25 December 1750
While on a surveying trip for the Ohio Company Christopher Gist reads prayers and gives a homily to native Americans and traders gathered near the town of Coshocton in Ohio. In 1752 he settled in southwest Pennsylvania and operated a trading post at the forks of the Monongahela and Youghiogheny Rivers. He left after the French burned the property in 1754.
