Creation of a Church
Before there could be an Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh, there needed to be an Episcopal Church, and settlers with Episcopal roots needed to move west. From the 1770s to the 1790s, Episcopalians formed The Episcopal Church, created the Diocese of Pennsylvania and moved into the western part of the state.
