Diocesan Transitions for April, 2025

New Addition to Diocesan Staff

The Rev. Canon Joann Saylors joined the diocesan staff on April 1, 2025, as Canon to the Ordinary for Mission, Vitality, and Administration. She relocated from Houston, Texas, where she served as Canon for Mission Amplification for the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. Effective April 1, Joann is also canonically resident in the Diocese of Pittsburgh.

In conjunction with Canon Joann’s arrival, Canon Kim Karashin has assumed the role of Canon to the Ordinary for Transitions and Clergy & Congregational Care.

Upcoming Retirement

The Rev. Robin Jarrell will be retiring from active ministry at the end of April. Robin has served as the Priest-in-Charge of St. Brendan’s, Franklin Park, since May 2022. She was ordained to the priesthood in 2003 and served parishes in the Diocese of Central Pennsylvania before coming to Pittsburgh. Robin intends to remain in the Pittsburgh area following her retirement.

New Call

The Rev. Canon Nancy Suellau will serve as Interim Priest at St. Brendan’s, Franklin Park, beginning May 1. Nancy, a retired priest, is licensed to serve in Pittsburgh while remaining canonically resident in the Diocese of Florida, where she previously served.

Newly Licensed

The Rev. Mark Wright was licensed to serve in the Diocese of Pittsburgh, effective March 17. Mark, a retired priest canonically resident in the Diocese of Dallas, serves as a full-time chaplain at Presbyterian Senior Care in Oakmont.
