Ordinations
The Rev. Guy Brown was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Ketlen on January 4, 2025. The service took place at St. Thomas, Oakmont, where Guy serves as Curate.
The Rev. Deanna Briody was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Ketlen on January 11, 2025. The service took place at Calvary, East Liberty, where Deanna serves as Curate.
The Rev. Theodore Somes was ordained to the priesthood and was commissioned as a Chaplain in the Army on January 22, 2025. The service took place at St. Paul’s, Mt. Lebanon, where Theodore serves as Curate.
Retirements
Elaine Zevkovich retired from her role as diocesan Treasurer and Director of Administration on January 3, 2025. Elaine joined the diocesan staff in April 2022, rounding out a 30+-year career in finance and management. Elaine plans to remain in Pittsburgh and continue as part of the Trinity Cathedral community.
The Rev. Canon Jim Shoucair will be retiring from active ministry at the end of January 2025. Canon Jim was ordained to the priesthood in 1999 and has served as Rector of Christ Church, North Hills, since 2002. He plans to continue playing an active role in the life of the diocese. He has served as our Convention Secretary for many years and also serves as a Title IV Intake Officer. Jim celebrated his last Sunday at Christ Church on January 19.
The Rev. Robin Jarrell will be retiring from active ministry at the end of April 2025. Robin is the Priest-in-Charge of St. Brendan’s, Franklin Park, where she has served since May 2022. She was ordained to the priesthood in 2003 and served parishes in the Diocese of Central Pennsylvania before coming to Pittsburgh. Robin intends to remain in the Pittsburgh area following her retirement.
The Rev. Bill Geiger will be retiring from active ministry effective July 1, 2025. Bill is the Rector of Christ Church, Indiana, where he has served for 25 years, since 1999. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1988. Bill has served the diocese in many ways, including as a member of Diocesan Council, Standing Committee, the Disciplinary Board, and the Committee on Constitution & Canons. May 29 will be Bill’s last Sunday at Christ Church. He and his wife Kate plan to remain resident in Indiana, PA, following Bill’s retirement.
Other Departures
The Rev. Torrey Johnson (ELCA) celebrated his last Sunday at Church of the Holy Cross, Homewood, on December 29. He had served as the parish’s Priest-in-Charge since December 2017. Torrey also serves as a military chaplain and left Holy Cross to fulfill a new military assignment overseas.
The Rev. Dr. Bruce Robison will be stepping down from his role as Vicar of All Saints, Brighton Heights, at the end of February 2025. He has served there since 2020. Bruce is considering this a “re-retirement”; he retired from active ministry and his role as Rector of St. Andrew’s, Highland Park, in 2019.
