Johnstown Symphony Strings Perform for Coal Country

The Johnstown Symphony Community Strings will perform a concert benefiting Northern Cambria’s Coal Country Hangout Youth Center at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 17, at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, 1006 Chestnut Avenue, Northern Cambria. Tickets are $10 at the door.
The Coal Country Hangout provides services ranging from daycare and preschool for young children, to afterschool activities for teens and experiential learning programs conducted with local school districts. It is the only program of its kind in the region bounded by Altoona, Johnstown, and Indiana.
Coal Country is an independent, non-profit organization directed by Deacon Ann Staples. It is a supported ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh.
The JSO’s Community Strings program, now in its tenth year, brings together musicians of varying skill levels who desire to play in an orchestral setting. It is under the direction of Beth Piles, Orchestra Manager and Librarian of the Johnstown Symphony.
