The Committee on Canons has finished one important task in its current mission – updating the governing documents of the Diocese– and is moving on to consider other potential changes, a process in which everyone in the Diocese is invited to take part.
Both aspects of the Committee’s work began with last year’s Special Convention, which recognized the need to address changes made to the documents over the last six years, especially those that affected the Diocese’s relationship to The Episcopal Church.
Input from any clergy or lay member of the Diocese is welcomed now until May 31st. Final recommendations will be formulated by late summer, in time for consideration by the next regular Diocesan Convention, now set for October 17, 2009.
